Arts at the Canopy invites artists, families, students, makers, and creative spirits of all skill levels to participate in the creation of the Garden of Inspiration, a one-of-a-kind community art installation that will become a permanent feature of our campus.

This exciting multi-week class series will transform a simple concreate staircase into a vibrant mosaic work of art featuring inspiring words such as Possibilities, Creativity, Imagine, and Inspiration. Participants will learn the art of mosaic design while helping create a meaningful public artwork that celebrates the power of creativity and community.

But the journey doesn’t end there.

Surrounding the mosaic staircase will be our growing Community Rock Garden, where participants will paint and decorate rocks that will be displayed throughout the garden for visitors to discover, take home and enjoy in their garden. Each rock becomes a small message of hope, joy, imagination, and kindness.

Throughout the series, participants will learn:
• Mosaic design and composition
• Tile cutting and placement techniques
• Grouting and finishing methods
• Painted rock art techniques
• Public art principles and community placemaking

No experience is necessary. Whether you’re an accomplished artist or simply looking for a creative way to connect with your children or others, this project is designed for everyone.

When complete, the Garden of Inspiration will stand as a lasting symbol of what can happen when a community creates together.

Join us and become part of a project that will inspire visitors, families, and future generations.

Your hands will help build it.

Your creativity will help shape it.

Your story will become part of it.

Spaces are limited. Registration is now open.

Pen and Ink with Watercolor Wash Workshop
$45.00

September 12th | Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Limited to 10 students
All supplies included.
Instructor: Artist Jeffrey Moore

Discover the expressive beauty of combining crisp ink lines with luminous watercolor washes in this hands-on workshop. Perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, this class explores the timeless technique of using pen and ink to create structure and detail, then enhancing your work with soft, transparent layers of watercolor.

Participants will learn essential skills such as line control, hatching and cross-hatching, composition, and how to build depth and texture through ink. You’ll then explore how to apply watercolor washes to add atmosphere, color harmony, and mood without overwhelming the delicate linework.

Through guided demonstrations and personalized instruction, you’ll complete several small studies and at least one finished piece. Subjects may include landscapes, urban scenes, botanicals, or simple still life compositions.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain confidence in mixing media, understand how to balance line and color, and leave with artwork ready to display—as well as techniques you can continue to develop at home.
